FAQs – Clients

  • Who Manages The RTM's Day To Day?

Day-to-day supervision, performance management, and team integration are handled by your local manager, just like any direct report. Gordian manages attendance tracking and administrative/employment matters, stepping in as needed, while you remain in control of daily operations. For Philippines-based RTMs, Gordian also provides a Performance Lead who supports oversight, tracks KPIs, and serves as a secondary point of contact to help ensure consistency, accountability, and ongoing success.

  • What Are The HR Functions of Gordian?

Our HR team maintains regular communication with RTMs to address concerns and resolve any issues clients report. We also act as a cultural bridge between your company and local customs in Mexico and the Philippines, providing coaching to align expectations and close cultural gaps. Any conversations with legal or employment implications are handled by us, keeping both you and the RTM protected.

  • What Do You Do To Make Sure My Company Information Is Secure?

Access is controlled by role — not everyone needs access to everything. RTMs work directly within your own systems, so you retain full control of credentials and can monitor activity through your existing dashboards.

  • How Do You Recruit For RTMs?

We recruit for every position based on the specific needs of our clients. Once we have confirmed the requirements of a position, we post on major platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed, as well as our own website. One of our strongest sources, though, is referrals — we've built a solid reputation in Mexico and the Philippines, with many candidates coming through word of mouth. That reputation is reinforced by our Great Place to Work certification for the second consecutive year, which attracts serious candidates looking for stable, reputable employers.

  • Do They Work From An Office Or Home?

RTMs work from home. We provide all necessary equipment as part of this model. We also maintain offices in major metropolitan areas as support hubs — available if an RTM needs technical support, hardware help, or in-person connection.

  • Why Use Gordian Staffing Instead Of Hiring Someone Directly?

We handle all filings, taxes, above-law benefits, and full compliance with local labor laws — letting you attract candidates who are committed to long-term careers rather than short-term arrangements. Serious candidates at higher levels won't accept informal setups; they need legitimate employment. Gordian also insulates you from direct employer liability, and your invoices are tax-deductible as payments to a legitimate staffing company.

  • What Equipment Is Provided?

Mexico-based RTMs receive a laptop, second monitor, and USB headset as part of the placement fee. Philippines-based RTMs receive a second monitor and access to a virtual desktop environment.

  • What is the difference between a Remote Team Member (RTM) and a Virtual Assistant (VA)?

In short: a VA completes tasks. An RTM fills a role. VA typically describes a freelance or platform-based worker handling general administrative tasks. There's rarely a formal employment relationship, guaranteed benefits, with limited accountability. RTMs are a dedicated employee integrated directly into your team, recruited for a specific role, managed by your supervisors, and treated like any other direct report. The practical difference is the caliber of candidate you receive and the dedication to your team.

  • How Long Does It Take To Find An RTM?

Presenting a candidate slate typically takes 7–18 business days depending on role complexity. Once you select a candidate, onboarding takes 10–14 business days. All in, expect roughly 3–4 weeks from contract signing to your RTM's start date.

  • What Position Can Be Filled With An RTM?

Any role that can be performed remotely. Our placements range from administrative roles like Administrative Assistant to higher-level positions such as Controller, Community Association Manager, Account Executive, and Customer Success Manager. Popular placements also include Customer Service Representative, Bookkeeper, and AP/AR Clerk.

  • What Is Your Retention Rate For RTMs?

We see 90% retention after one year. Retention is influenced by client culture and onboarding readiness, which is why our Client Services and HR teams are actively involved throughout the process — providing guidance and support to manage the variables within our control.

  • Will My RTM Speak English?

Yes. All RTMs speak, read, write, and understand English. Accent variation is normal — some RTMs have near-native accents, others have a stronger but clearly understood accent, which is common even in domestic US hiring. We confirm any accent preferences during the candidate profile definition.

  • Do I Need To File Anything With The Mexican or Filipino Government Or Pay Any Taxes?

No. Gordian handles all filings, taxes, benefits, and retirement contributions as your Employer of Record. You simply receive two invoices per month, just as you would with any other vendor.

  • What Happens If The RTM Doesn’t Work Out?

We conduct regular check-ins and encourage you to flag concerns early so our HR team can provide coaching and help course correct. If an RTM still isn't the right fit, we'll help find a replacement. All placements include a 90 day trial period in which there is no additional fee to replace an RTM.

While this may not be a comprehensive list, most questions can be answered by asking what you would do with a domestic employee. Please reach out with any additional questions.
